Kyu Karate Belt Testing

This is the Schedule for Saturday on Karate Kyu Belt Testing Dates:

Adult Karate Session

9:00am - 10:00am

Youth Jiu-Jitsu Session

9:15am - 10:00am

Youth Karate Session

10:15am - 11:00am

11:15am Kyu Karate Belt Test Warm-Up

11:30am Kyu Karate Belt Testing Begins

Kyu Karate Belt Testing is offered four times per year. All eligible students will be invited via email.

We do not offer makeup testing for eligible students who are unable to attend.

Kyu Rank Karate Belt Testing Eligibility Requirements

Most students who attend three karate sessions per week qualify for one or two belt promotions per year.

Belt Promotion eligibility is determined by these three factors:

1. Attendance

2. Skill

3. Attitude

1. Attendance

a. Here are the minimum karate class attendance requirements to be eligible for a belt rank promotion:

Yellow & Orange: 24

Green, Blue & Purple: 36

Brown Belt 1, Belt 2, Belt 3: 48

All Black Belt Testing is conducted through the regional and/or international technical board.

2. Skill

a. Improvement in overall skill is required to qualify for promotional rank, which is thoroughly covered in training. A typical student usually qualifies for one or two tests a year with average attendance of two to three classes per week. This depends on several factors, including: belt level, skill improvement, attitude, class attendance, individual motivation and work ethic.

3. Attitude

a. We work very hard to create and sustain positive energy in our dojo. Each student is encouraged to cooperate enthusiastically with teachers and fellow students. We do our best to foster following character traits: good attitude & behavior, productive work habits and effective communication skill.

Cost

The cost of the kyu exam (this cost includes a new belt) is as follows:

8th - 7th Kyu: $40

6th - 4th Kyu: $50

3rd - 1st Kyu: $60

Cost

The cost of the Youth Jiu Jitsu exam (this cost includes a new stripe or color belt) is as follows:

$0 for Stripes 1 - 4

$30 for each new Color Belt Promotion (Maximum of once per year, per student)
